Step into the future of Extreme Gear racing!
(Patch Notes, Music List and Credits included)
Hello! Welcome to the Future!
Sonic Riders Future (SRF) is a brand new ROM Hack for Sonic Riders (2006) on the Nintendo GameCube. Vol. 1 is the first installment of SRF. The name and theme of the mod is heavily based on Jet Set Radio Future (2002), as it has similar connections between the aesthetic and gameplay. No matter if you are a causal or a veteran at Sonic Riders, there is plenty to enjoy in this mod!
The main direction of Sonic Riders Future is to create a lore-friendly Sonic Riders mod. This means the additional content would be created to fit seamlessly into the Sonic Riders universe by using the existing themes and designs that the franchise offers. We want to strike the balance between Sonic Riders' original gameplay while implementing innovative tweaks and QOL changes without adding them solely for the sake of innovation.
For many years in the Sonic Riders modding scene, the competitive side of Sonic Riders has been the main focus. We believe that catering to the causal side of the community is important to the longevity of the game. As seen in the comment sections from older Sonic Riders videos, we have come to the conclusion that there is a collective agreement that the people would love to see Sonic Riders with more content, particularly with more characters and stages. The raw numbers are in no interest to the majority of the community, all they just want is to play as their favourite characters and to have fun!
This is what we would like to achieve.
Sonic Riders Future (Vol. 1) introduces 3 new characters! Blaze the Cat, Cosmo and Vector the Crocodile have joined the ExWGP, which brings the total playable character count from 19 to 22.
The new characters also have 3 skins each, which brings the total skin count from 57 to 66.
Beerus / Surge / Proto
Galaxina / Lumina / Sage
Krookodile / Giant Alligator / Zombot
Sonic Riders Future (Vol. 1) introduces a new class for Blaze, Cosmo and Vector, ECO Class. Their main gimmick is that they can obtain an increased % of air/rings through tricks, item boxes and type shortcuts.
This class is unique as it allows players to being able to take more risks and get back more fuel without worrying about not having enough for a boost or getting stuck in a dangerous situation for an opponent to land an attack.
For this class, we would recommend giving them a try with Extreme Gears that uses a lot of air/rings such as High Booster, Faster, The Crazy and Hang-On.

The meta constantly changes after every release, so it is crucial that rigorous testing is done to avoid creating undertuned and overtuned Extreme Gears. By picking a specific character and Extreme Gear tune on specific tracks, it can make or break your race. Be sure to read the SRF datasheet to gain an understanding on the Character/Extreme Gear stats and legal skips to decide on the best combo, to give you the edge in winning races.

Sonic Riders Future (Vol. 1) comes with 98 music tracks! These range from different Sonic games and SEGA franchises, there are also a few picks from other racing titles!
How to pick your preferred song for a race:
For a custom song, you can select the music by:
press and hold either Up, Down, Left or Right on the D-pad while loading up the race
For the Vanilla version of the track:
press and hold the "A button" while loading up the race
Sonic Riders Future's Texture Pack is rather unique. It is not a "set" pack, rather it is considered a "Dynamic Texture Pack". Developers of Sonic Riders Future will create textures for the players to pick and choose which textures at their own will to download. Everything is on the table, from Menu textures, HUD textures and Stage Overhauls and etc.
However, making certain textures for the pack such as Stage Overhauls can take a rather long time to produce, so we ask the players to wait patiently with what gets added to the pack.
Currently, there are 2 major Stage Overhauls currently in the pack:
Splash Canyon
Dragon Road (Sonic Unleashed)
Babylon Garden
Astral Babylon (Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity)
